Whoever it is, it will be a surprise. We should all know Scott and Hurst like to play their cards close to their chest.

myself I like Doig good player utm Agree with this, I think he is very solid would be worth a one year deal with option of second year, based on number of games played.

Whoever is brought in we can be sure that it will add ability to the squad. The policy of fewer squad players but more quality really could have benefits. In the event of injuries we can use the loan market.

In the event of injuries we can use the loan market. Tend to agree with that. My only worry would be if we got a few injurys. We cant rely on loans too much you can only have so many long and short term and you are limited on how many under the age of 24 you can have. This brings me to another point, should we rest some key first team players in the FA Trophy, less games played surely reduces the risk of injury? Might make a poll on this actually.

Personally I would rest players for the FA trophy. As much as I enjoyed Wembley and the financial rewards our focus should be promotion. Both our own and Wrexhams form dipped after the semi finals.
Part of our problem last year appeared to be not knowing the strongest first 11 as we gradually got further behind. I personally would rather have a smaller squad with more quality focused solely on promotion. Injurys will be a concern as for all sides. It's going to be an interesting season.

Promotion should be the absolute main priority this season.
We need to be receiving the league money and TV money in order to progress.
Until we go back into the Football League, a new stadium is just a pipe dream, and as much as Blundell Park has many memories, it's well past a sell by date to be going on for much longer.
If both of these players prove to be fit and adaptable within the price range, then we could have one of the best back fours in the league this year, and need to target a goals against total of less than 40 over the whole season.
I think that the goals for will rise this year with those players already here, so if we can stabilise a tight defence, then hopefully a successful season with larger crowds to cheer on a team playing more "on the ground" passing football than last year.
I also hope that the new training sessions reported on Mariners Player will bolster the likes of Cook to hold off defenders better so that the ball is not returning swiftly back to our half.
Hoping this forum stays on line with decent posters wanting to support Town, not just slag everyone off at every opportunity.
UTM.

Totally agree, without being in the football league the new stadium won't seriously be considered.
At least with the recent acquisitions we appear to be making progress. We need to Forest Green and Luton will both be stronger this year.

If both of these trialists work out, H&S will have pulled off another coup in the back four, and perhaps that chap from Fleetwood may not form many threads this year ??
As ex-defenders themselves, they have usually come up good from their assessments of back four player capabilities.

Watched Doig this evening very closely, very calm on the ball and seems a great pick for what looks like the new style of play for this season, played out from the back through the new centre mid set up. However didnt win any headers, did not look very mobile or particularly quick. Heaven knows we need a centre half but i would not make him a number one choice based on first impressions.

D'ont 'do' friendlies Moosey and c'ant afford them at present anyway, so w'ont see Town till the first league game,if poss would be interested to read your, or any other posters opinion about what you make of the new 'style'? I hated the predictable long boot last season which i think ultimately cost us, but my concern (without seeing us play, i admit) is that we have gone to the opposite extreme because goalscoring does seem to have dried up a bit. Does Bignot look more of a CB than RB or vice versa? Are we moving the ball quickly enough? If anyone has any views i would be very interested to read them - thanks

Ignore my last post Moosey! Just seen your thread on the new style - very interesting, seems to suggest some of the worries i have without admittedly seeing us play yet!, lets hope its a settling in period, i d'ont want to see us revert just to last seasons long ball stuff, or equally slow moving tippy tappy stuff, we need a nice balanceof the two and when its played on the deck, the ball need to be moved on quickly. If S & H are changing the style its a brave and needed move, lets pray a successful one!
