Discuss...
I think it had a massive effect on the outcome of our season. Too many extra games at a time where the fixtures were already piled up.

A no from me. As much as I enjoyed Wembley and the financial benefits we need to focus on promotion. I would rather focus on the 46 league games.

Don't think you actually get much in terms of finances from the Trophy anyway The prize money for the runners up was only 25k. The additional money comes from the extra tickets sold for games, extra shirts etc sold and obviously the Wembley final. It's not huge but that money old potentially fund a couple of players contract for a year. That said I would still rather focus on the league.

Lots more cash in from the Football League if we go up, especially in the youth side, which I believe is lost when dropping down to the Conference.
An FA cup run , however, could be a huge boost to the coffers if we hit one good team and can make it to Round 3?

Very valid points but the FA Trophy does give us a chance to give "fringe" players a chance to show what they are capable of. FA Trophy fixtures can also be used to try new formations against sides that don't normally have many game-plans in their lockers. I like the point about the FA Cup but again this can be a double-edged sword with the possibility of a fixture back-log and unnecessary injuries.

Another valid point, but, with a squad of our size (Managers want 18 players), are we really going to have any fringe players?

By fringe players I was thinking more about players in the youth squad who are impressing The Dynamic Duo. Walker seems to be being utilised in the friendlies so far and situations could occure during the season when these type of players could be utilised with some confidence.
