Does anyone else our midfield is one of the strongest in the conference this year. We have three top quility CM two Excellent wingers and backup for these positions that would walk into most conference teams. It's been a while since anyone could say we've had a strong midfield. Excited for the new season now! UTM

Good on paper, needs to be consistent all through the season, perhaps won't need to force Disley to play every game and risk injuries like last year.
I also hope that the players in now will provide good changes to formations against the more physical sides who cost us several points last year by not being able to change some losses into draws and lots more draws into wins.
10 more goals in the right games would have got us 20 more points.
I want to see attacks from both wings for a more balanced attack this season

Also agree about Disley. Same would probably go for kerr, they're both 32 now and not getting any younger, a rest now and then wouldn't do them any harm. Our midfield needs to be alot more flexible this year, especially if we're to play 4-3-3, it could need to change to 4-5-1 at any moment when defending. Hopefully we can have a few more goals from midfield with Mcloughlan (Spelling?) and obviously if Hearn is as good as he was in his first season we'll get a few more goals.

I think that signing the ex- York players could prove to be significant as they know how each other plays and can gel as a unit, rather than having to learn individually. From those signed, it would seem that the team intends to be tougher, play the ball on the floor a lot more, and be able to switch between formations more easily than last year. I'm really looking forward to seeing Rodman and Neilsen on each wing, giving Colbeck the challenge for more consistency this year.
Genuine competition for all places if we can sign Doig and Bignot and they prove to be good enough.
I also want Hannah to push Hearn for one striker place, and Lennell-Lewis to challenge Cook for the other place. The surprise would be Southwell, if he develops in his last chance year, a useful squad player, but could be out on loan early on if there are no injuries.
I can see Disley and Kerr sharing a number of games, depending on formations and tactics, hopefully keeping both fully fit all season.
The mystery is still who will partner Pearson at centre half for most of the games?
Good defence in the main last year, but failed in the 3 important games at the death so needs to go that one step higher this season.
So, fingers crossed again this year??

Yes, fingers crossed. I agree that the signing of York players will be significant. No excuses to not be fully 'gelled' come the start of the season. As much as most people dislike Neilson for certain comments in a luton paper (which actually twisted his words so they had something more interesting to publish) we did miss him after his loan spell expired.
Genuinely looking forward to this season I have a feeling there are some exciting times ahead.

Midfield looks good interesting to see Scotts comments on Neilson having to play catch up with the rest of the squad.

Got to be honest, i'm a bit baffled by Scotts comments on Neilson, Neilson was our first signing so would have been through the entire pre-season so far, so he shouldn't be behind anyone on fitness, if he isn't putting it all in, its up to the management team to do something about it! Going public saying Neilson is behind the rest of the players is a very strange way to act IMO - surely you just work him a bit harder!
